Our approach to education

At our school it is built on humane pedagogy. Six principles that guide our approach — each described below.

No comparing children to each other

Every child learns at their own pace—some are visual learners, others auditory; some have an affinity for languages, others for maths. It is normal that some children are more active, others calmer; our job is to find an approach for each. We can show children that differences exist, for example in their preferences, without making value judgments about who has better handwriting, behaviour, or grades. We do not compare children to each other.

Non-judgment and the ability to value

Non-judgment and the ability to value and share the cares, concerns and efforts of children. Grades are not announced in front of the whole class and are not given on the spot. There are assessment criteria for work; children know them. Tasks are completed out of interest in the subject and in the results. In this way we have successfully moved away from the "straight-A" syndrome. Our team always shares the child's concerns and helps them through difficulties. We gladly support ideas and initiatives.

Freedom of choice

Children choose their own extracurricular activities and project topics; they learn to make choices from the colour of a pencil to the choice of a career.

Personal boundaries

Teachers and psychologists help children build personal boundaries and respect those of others. From kindergarten, children learn that they have their own locker, and even the teacher may open it only if the child asks for help or in situations that require it (e.g. feeling unwell).

Clear rules

From day one, children are introduced to basic school rules and then learn to create rules together with their class. The ITA team is very open to children's ideas to change existing rules and to propose their own vision.

Equality

A teacher can be wrong; a child has the right to voice their opinion and point of view and will be heard. We build communication between children and staff so that there is productive discussion with mutual respect and empathy.
